[Video flicks on to show... a much changed Molly Carpenter. Her hair is purple, and it looks like it's been a while since she had a decent meal or a hot shower. Maybe a long while.]

Is everything still fucked up around here? No? Good. I'm going to go grab a shower.

[Friends filter]
If you want to talk, give me a half an hour, or you're going to get an eyeful.

[OOC: Yeah, I was so sorry to change her PB, but Mika Boorem doesn't have any look but wholesome and happy, and Molly's just... not there these days.]

Oh, Molly, I'm sorry. That sucks. [To put it mildly. As far as Cissie's concerned, the dog is more Molly's than Harry's after over a year with her on the Barge. Losing both Harry and Mouse? Cissie does not approve.]

It's okay. Really. I miss him, but the little girl--Maggie--she's been through a lot. I think she needs the walking carpet a bit more.

You're pretty awesome, Molly. [She hugs Molly tighter.] I missed you.

I missed you too. Things have been pretty dark--I could have used a friend.

I wish I could have been there for you. I didn't--I wasn't sure where you were. [PAUSE] Or if you were coming back.

[little smile] You can stop worrying. I'm here.

[elbow nudge] I'm your best friend. I get to worry about you even if you're here. ...When was the last time you ate?

[quiet laugh] Chromie left me a snack while I was showering.

You know that's not what I mean.

I know it's not. I went to Denny's a couple of nights ago--but I don't get a lot of hot meals right now. I generally eat what I can, when I can. There's been a lot of fast food and convenience store food.

[eyebrow raise] Molly the health nut, living off of fast food and convenience stores? [THIS DOES NOT HELP THE WORRYING]

[Wry smile--Cissie's probably not going to like this answer.] Calories are calories, fuel is fuel.

[NOPE, she doesn't like it at all. And it shows.] ...Molly. Where have you been living?

[She tenses a little.] ...Here and there. I've been moving around a lot.

Molly. [COMMENCE OPERATION: WORRY AND FRET.] Why? What about your parents? Couldn't you stay with them?

[headshake] I can't. They'd be in so much danger if I did. People are after me, Cissie. I'm not putting--the kids at risk like that. Or my om and dad. They don't deserve the kind of shit I have bearing down on me.

[More arm squeezing/poorly disguised clinging. She puts her head on Molly's shoulder.] Oh, Moll. Why are they after you? Who is after you?

[She leans her head against Cissie's.] The Wardens of the White Council--I no longer have a mentor, so the Doom of Damocles is coming right down on my head. I am a convicted warlock. And all of the bad guys in Chicago. [faint smile] I've been making their lives as difficult and brief as I can manage.

[Cissie's totally curled up beside her. She lets out a little sigh.] Oh, Molly. That's... You're a hero. You're protecting an entire city. Can't they give you a break?

[She sighs a little.] They're not completely wrong, Cissie. I'm pretty borderline. I'm not quite breaking the laws of magic, but it's a pretty fine line. The Merlin's wanted me dead for years, and considering my record...

It would be really easy to see my actions as over that line, rather than beside it.

[She looks up at her.] ...Borderline how?

[...Cissie's going to hate her. Cissie's a hero and Molly is... She's fighting the good fight, but she's no hero.] I've hurt people, Cissie. I've used illusions that caused people to die. Servitors, corrupt cops... It's pretty borderline, where the laws of magic are concerned. Technically I didn't kill anyone [except Harry] but I did put then in situations where that was the likeliest outcome.

[...Oh, Molly. Cissie rests her head on Molly's shoulder again as she talks and resists the urge to hide her face there. She feels kind of sick, but it's for Molly's sake, not hers.] ...But Molly, I thought--you hate using your magic like that.

I do. [Being around death like that--even if they're bad guys--it hurts. Every time.] But there isn't anyone else. All we have left are small talents, Murphy, Marcone, and me. Someone needs to fill the gap Harry left.

[Cissie puts her arm around Molly and hugs her tightly. She thinks she'll keep her sudden irrational anger at Harry for dying and leaving Molly in this mess to herself, though.] I'm so sorry, Molly. Is that--why you came back?

[She'd almost rather not ask that, because it begs the question of whether there was a chance she wouldn't come back, and that's not something Cissie wants to think about.]
