Oh. That's really nice. Did it?

My mom used to sing 'All The Pretty Little Horses', which probably wouldn't help, since it's like. The creepiest lullaby ever.

[Molly gives a short laugh.]

Maybe a little. But--I'll sing with you, if you think it will help.

It helped me a little. It--um--I didn't hear the voices as much. I'm afraid I'm going to lose track of what's real.

I'll try anything [ - Ned says hurriedly, trying not to contemplate the frightening prospect of the whispers lurking in the back of his mind taking over it entirely]

Uh... [he looks a little awkward for a moment, before venturing in a quiet, tentative voice -] "Hush-a-bye, don't you cry..."

[Molly smiles a little and takes up the tune. Even though it's a little creepy. At least it's real.]

"Go to sleep you little baby..."

"When you wake, you'll have cake, and all the pretty little horses." [He hummed a few bars of the bridge, then paused]

I do feel a little better.

... I wish I had some pie, though.

Me too. Pie would be pretty nice. That... seems like a good comfort food. What's your favorite kind of pie?

Apple [He answers without hesitating. It's a question he gets a lot]

I know it's kind of a boring choice, but [he shrugs] it's the most homey to me.

No, apple's a good choice. Homey is nice. It doesn't sound boring to me. Especially now. Maybe we can have apple pie when we get back?

[It's a sign of how far gone he is that Ned's only response is] Maybe.

... I hate to ask, but. What did they do to you?

[AWW, NED.] I could help. I'm not much good in the kitchen, though.

[She shudders a little] They keep saying I did something terrible. Lost my mind, hurt my family. All my brothers and sisters... They showed me-- But I didn't. I know I didn't.

[He sounds a little better] It's not... hard. Just cutting and mixing, mostly.

They told me I'd killed. That I, um. "Couched my murderous tendencies in delusions of supernatural gifts." [He regards his hands] I don't know. It all seemed so real.

[She gives him a faint smile.] Doesn't sound so bad. As long as there's no cooking. I burned a boiled egg once.

I don't believe it. You're good, Ned. You'd never hurt anyone. Whatever they said to you--it's not true. No matter what. [Even if there were pictures. She shivers.]
