[thirty seven] [Private to Master Lord Thom]
You've been quiet, but I'm assuming you weren't pitched overboard at the last port. ...Actually, I'm hoping you weren't subjected to it at all. You'd probably have hated it, too.
I'm not sure if you remember me. I'm Molly Carpenter, and I'm your new warden. We should talk.

So that was a port. I became someone else, a paler version of myself. Working for an absentee master. Is it a different world or merely illusion?

It's kind of a stopover in a different world. We... became people there--at least, some of us did. Sometimes it's not like that--sometimes you really are more of a tourist.

The people taken over by the world-- is there some pattern? Does someone choose? This Admiral, perhaps?
no subject
Hard to say. I haven't noticed any pattern so far--but it could just be the Admiral feeling sadistic. It's the same with floods, too.

Youngest Master--what was that like?

Apprenticeships work for those less powerful, the hedgewitches and village healers. If you're a noble and you wish to learn, it's the City of the Gods or the University in Carthak. They have the libraries, and the Masters.

[She makes a thoughtful noise.] Interesting. What was that like for you--aside from satisfying.
